“6 Steps to Build Community Wealth” is a UK Co-operative Party report by Anna Birley, hot of the press – published July 17!
It’s not strictly speaking a report; more a practical guide for councillors, local authorities, public-sector institutions and those working in regional economic development.
In six simple steps it sets out an Anchor Institution based model to build community wealth. The model outlined – with examples from our friends at CLES and also in Preston – mirrors much of the vision set out by Rochdale Stronger Together. Helpfully it develops the various aspects of an Anchor model and puts forward a range of options that communities implementing such an approach need to consider.
By offering plenty of examples and pitching the content at a truly practical level, 6 Steps to Build Community Wealth promises to be a highly useful document!
