Hopwood Hall Graphic Design Students have taken part in a competition to design the future look of Rochdale Stronger Together; the whole community initiative working to create a good local economy in Rochdale Borough.
Launched in 2016, Rochdale Stronger Together established a formal leadership group last November with representation from Hopwood Hall, Rochdale Sixth Form College, Link4Life, STAR Procurement, RBH, HMR Clinical Commissioning Group, Northern Care Alliance, Rochdale Council and Rochdale Borough Social Enterprise & Co-operative Forum. Aiming to become a household name in the Borough, the Leadership Group asked Hopwood Hall’s Graphic Design Students if they could design a brand for the initiative; one that stood out from the crowd and meant something to local people.
First and second year students submitted 26 fantastic designs. In November, the Leadership Group picked the top three designs and then on 31st January, three members of the Leadership Group, Cllr Liam O’Rourke, Deborah Lyon and Michael Taylor presented certificates and awards to the students.
Anna Russell created the winning design with Jack Lythgoe-Hodgson and Alycia Gunn coming second and third. Anna’s design can now be seen on all Rochdale Stronger Together social medial accounts, official documents and presentation.
The student’s work is a fantastic example of how the Borough is stronger when the community comes together.
Deborah Lyon, Rochdale Stronger Together Leadership Group member said: “I was impressed by the quality of the work all the students did; it was a credit to themselves, the college and the Borough. It was important to us to have the Rochdale Stronger Together logo designed by our very own young people.”
